Vietnam supports construction of National Political-Administrative Academy in southern Lao
VOV.VN - Work started on the construction of the National Political-Administrative Academy for southern Laos in Champasak province on December 3.
Those in attendance at the grondbreaking ceremony included Politburo member and President of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council Prof.Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, Politburo member and Lao Deputy Prime Minister Kikeo Khaykhamphithoune, and representatives of ministries and agencies from both countries attending.
Addressing the event, Director of the Lao National Political and Administrative Academy Phouvong Oukhamsen said Vietnam-Laos relations represent a rare model in the history of international relations, marked by close, selfless, sincere and effective cooperation that has continued to deepen through the ups and downs of history.
In his speech, Nguyen Xuan Thang said the project carries special significance, demonstrating the strategic vision of the two Parties and the two States for cooperation in cadre training and the development of high-quality human resources.
He expressed confidence that, with the special solidarity between the two countries, the determination of relevant authorities at all levels, and the support of the government and people of Champasak province, the project would be implemented smoothly and put into operation soon to train personnel for the Lao Party and State.
The project has a total investment of VND 750.813 billion, including VND 737.141 billion in non-refundable aid from the Vietnamese Government and VND 13.672 billion in counterpart funding from the Lao Government. It will be carried out into two phases over a 10-year period from 2026 to 2035.
