Addressing the opening session, IPU Secretary General Anda Filip underscored the role of parliamentary diplomacy in advancing dialogue, cooperation, and the peaceful settlement of international disagreements; meanwhile, IPU President Tulia Ackson noted that global crises ultimately exert a direct impact on community life, requiring parliaments to amplify the voice of citizens in legislative drafting, budgeting, and supervision.
On the sidelines of the Assembly, NA Vice President Nguyen Hong Dien held meetings with Tanzanian Prime Minister Mwigulu Nchemba, Malaysian House of Representatives Speaker Johari bin Abdul, Australian House of Representatives Speaker Milton Dick, Russian Federation Council Deputy Speaker Konstantin Kosachev, and Algerian Council of the Nation Vice President Mohammed Larbi Slimani.
During the meeting with Tanzanian Prime Minister Mwigulu Nchemba, the two sides expressed high regard for the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Tanzania, nurtured by the international friendship between President Ho Chi Minh and late President Julius Nyerere.
Prime Minister Mwigulu Nchemba conveyed greetings and an invitation for Prime Minister Le Minh Huong to visit Tanzania, while praising the contributions of Halotel, an enterprise of the Viettel Group, to Tanzania’s socio-economic development.
The two sides agreed to boost cooperation in telecommunications, digital transformation, agriculture, water resource management, energy, mining, science-technology, and infrastructure. Dien proposed that both nations step up high-level delegation exchanges through Party, parliamentary, and governmental channels; accelerate negotiations on agreements concerning the promotion and protection of investment and the avoidance of double taxation; and continue facilitating Halotel’s effective operations in Tanzania.

He noted that Vietnam currently ranks as Australia's fourth-largest education partner, with approximately 36,000 Vietnamese students pursuing their studies in Australia, and affirmed that both countries share a vision for a peaceful, stable, and prosperous Asia-Pacific region. The two sides also discussed fine-tuning the legal framework to elevate trade turnover to US$20 billion and double investment over the next five years, while creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community in Australia. The NA Vice President urged both sides to continue coordinating and supporting each other at multilateral parliamentary forums, upholding multilateralism, international law, and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
