Vietnam, Cuba reaffirm special friendship through high-level phone talks
VOV.VN - General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee To Lam on February 4 held phone talks with First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (CPC) Central Committee and President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel.
On behalf of the Party, State, people of Cuba and General Raul Castro Ruz, Diaz-Canel conveyed the best wishes to the Party, State and people of Vietnam on the occasion of the 95th founding anniversary of the CPV (February 3, 1930 - 2025) and the Lunar New Year of the Snake.
He commended Vietnam’s achievements in national construction and development under the leadership of the CPV, regarding it as a shining example for the revolutionary movement and international communism. He also expressed deep appreciation for Vietnam’s solidarity and unwavering support for Cuba over the years.
For his part, Lam sincerely thanked Cuba for its profound friendship and special affection for Vietnam, reflecting the strong political bonds and deep mutual understanding between the two nations. He congratulated Cuba on the 66th anniversary of its successful revolution (January 1, 1959 - 2025) and acknowledged the country’s efforts in maintaining a peaceful and stable environment while overcoming challenges.
The Vietnamese Party leader reaffirmed Vietnam’s consistent support for the United Nations General Assembly’s resolutions calling for an end to the embargo against Cuba.
In a spirit of comradeship and brotherhood, and ahead of the 65th anniversary of Vietnam-Cuba diplomatic ties (December 2, 1960 - 2025), the two leaders updated each other on the situation of their respective parties and countries. They reaffirmed the significance of the special Vietnam-Cuba friendship, considering it an invaluable asset that both sides must continue to strengthen and further develop in the coming time.
Both leaders consented to accelerate the implementation of cooperative activities to enhance political trust, effectively carry out high-level agreements reached during the historic visit to Cuba in September 2024 by Party General Secretary and State President To Lam, and actively launch commemorative events and people-to-people exchanges during the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Year 2025.
Lam reiterated his invitation for Díaz-Canel to visit Vietnam again in 2025 and extended his warm regards to General Raul Castro Ruz.
