Vietnam boosts ties with Spanish and German law enforcement agencies
VOV.VN - A high-ranking delegation of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, led by Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang, a Politburo member, paid a working visit to Spain and Germany from October 22 to October 29 at the invitation of both nations’ law enforcement agencies.
In Spain, during talks with Minister Quang, Enrique Fernando Santiago Romero, general secretary of the Communist Party of Spain (CPS), spoke glowingly of the visit of the Vietnamese delegation; highlighted the achievements of the Communist Party of Spain since its establishment nearly 100 years ago; and expressed his joy at the achievements in socio-economic development the nation has recorded in recent times, especially in terms of Party building.
Minister Quang respectfully conveyed the greetings and best wishes of the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), To Lam, to all CPS leaders and members. He emphasized that the CPV always attaches importance to the solidarity and traditional relationship with the CPS, while also appreciating the sentiments and support of the CPS throughout the process of national construction and development.
At present, the country, under the leadership of Party leader To Lam, the CPV, the State, the Government and the entire Vietnamese political system are strongly innovating leadership methods. These focus on building a rule-of-law State with a complete legal system, creating breakthroughs in both institutional development; implementing the digital transformation revolution; concentrating on fulfilling the goals of building socio-economic infrastructure; and boosting comprehensive and deep international integration. The overarching goal is to bring Vietnam into a new era - the era of the nation’s rise.
During the working trip in Spain, Minister Quang and his delegation held talks with representatives of Spanish law enforcement agencies in order to exchange information, share experience in combating crimes, and agree on measures aimed at stepping up co-operation in the coming time.
They also visited the group that produces specialized equipment and vehicles for the Spanish police and security forces.
Visiting and talking with officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Spain, Minister Quang provided some general information about the situation in the country, especially the work of the public security forces in both fighting and preventing crime.
He expressed hope that Embassy staff will promote the results and achievements they have recorded and continue to serve as a bridge and ambassador to propel the increasingly developing mutual relationship forward.
In Germany, Minister Quang held talks with the Ministry of the Interior of Germany and Intelligence Agency to continue strengthening ties across a variety of areas of shared interest.
During talks, the two sides agreed to resolutely not allow any organization or individual to take advantage of the territory of one country to harm the national security of the other or to spread false information to divide the relationship between the two countries.
They therefore consented to intensify the exchange of delegations at all levels in order to share information and experience in preventing and combating all types of crimes, co-ordinate in fighting special cases, investigating, verifying, and arresting wanted subjects related to both nations’ citizens.
The two sides will accelerate the signing of an agreement on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, an agreement on extradition of criminals and an agreement on transfer of sentenced persons.
The focus will also be on collaboration in professional training to improve the capacity of law enforcement officers, especially drug and high-tech crime prevention and control, anti- terrorism; forensic technical expertise; and immigration control.
These efforts include ensuring security, safety, and facilitating the activities of diplomatic missions and citizens of one country working, investing, studying, and living in the other.
The two sides will regularly consult and support each other at multilateral law enforcement co-operation forums in which both countries are members. The two sides agreed to enhance comprehensive linkages in order to contribute to bringing the bilateral relationship to new heights and together look towards the future.
During the visit, Minister Quang and his delegation talked with officials and Vietnamese Embassy staff and heads of representative agencies and met with representatives of the Union of Vietnamese Associations in Germany.
