Vietnam attends Singapore Air Show 2024

VOV.VN - A Vietnamese delegation from the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defence led by Lieutenant General Pham Truong Son, deputy chief of General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, attended the ninth Singapore Airshow (Singapore Airshow 2024) which is take place from February 20 to February 25 at Changi Exhibition Center.

At the event, the delegation attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony, visited booths and product display areas of a number of major international businesses and corporations, and watched flight demonstrations put on by the air forces from Singapore, India, the United States, the Republic of Korea, China, Indonesia, Australia, and several other international civil airlines.

Within the framework of the exhibition, the delegation held a host of meetings with a number of partners aimed at discussing issues of mutual concern and bilateral co-operation.

During a meeting with Deputy Minister of Defence of the Czech Republic Daniel Blazkovec, LT Gen. Son thanked the Czech Republic for its valuable help in the struggles for national independence and construction of Vietnam, going on to express joy at the outstanding defence links results between both nations recorded recently.

He said he hopes to continue boosting links moving forward in a multitude of fields such as delegation exchanges and training.

At the meeting held with Andrew Hunter, assistant secretary of the US Air Force, the head of the Vietnamese delegation assessed that relations between the two countries have continued to develop well in recent times, with this being in accordance with the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for peace, co-operation, and sustainable development.

In the coming time, the two sides must seek to augment linkages on the basis of signed documents, with priority given to bolstering co-operation in training, rescue, military medicine, engaging in UN peacekeeping forces, and overcoming the consequences of war in Vietnam.

Also at bilateral meetings with countries and partners, LT Gen. Son respectfully thanked the ministries of Defence and armies of the countries for sending high-level delegations to attend the Vietnam International Defence Exhibition 2022 and hoped that they will continue to support and attend the Vietnam International Defence Exhibition 2024 on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam People's Army.

The Singapore Air Show  is the biggest air show in Asia which involves the participation of more than 1,000 aviation and defence companies from over 50 countries, including giants such as Airbus, Boeing, and Lockheed Martin.

This marks the first time in four years that the biennial Singapore Airshow is open to the public. The previous edition in 2022 was closed to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, people can visit the exhibition on February 24 and February 25.
