Promoting strategic partnership between Vietnam and Singapore
VOV.VN - Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong on November 16 received Singapore’s Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chea Hean who is in Hanoi for a working visit to Vietnam.
Phuong welcomed Teo’s visit which he said is a practical activity that marks 50 years of diplomacy and 10 years of the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Singapore.
He noted with satisfaction the growing ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, including parliamentary cooperation, contributing to maintaining stability and development in each country as well as in the region and the wider world.
He singled out economic, trade and investment cooperation as a major pillar, saying Singapore is currently one of Vietnam’s leading economic partners in the region.
Besides cooperation in existing fields, the senior legislator suggested that the two countries expand cooperation in new fields such as clean energy, energy transition, digital transformation, and innovation.
He also stressed the need for the two legislative bodies to increase cooperation through visit exchanges and support each other at multilateral forums such as the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA), the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), and the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF).
Minister Teo for his part said Singapore wants to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam in developing green energy, clean energy and renewable energy.
Singaporean investors who acquire much experience in developing green energy want to cooperate with partners in Vietnam to maximize the potential in this field, he said.
The Minister affirmed that his ministry would continue to promote the strategic partnership between the two countries more practically and effectively.
