VOV.VN - Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan and Ngo Phuong Ly, spouse of Party General Secretary To Lam, on April 22 hosted meetings in Hanoi with Leyla Aliyeva, Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation of Azerbaijan, who is on a working visit to Vietnam.

At the Presidential Palace, Vice President Xuan recalled the late President Heydar Aliyev’s visit to Vietnam in 1983 in her capacity as First Deputy Chairman of the USSR Council of Ministers, and the official visit by President Ilham Aliyev in 2014.
She stressed that Vietnam always attaches importance to its traditional friendship with Azerbaijan – a relationship that has been nurtured over generations of leadership. The Vietnamese State and people deeply value Azerbaijan’s support in Vietnam’s struggle for national independence and development, especially in human resource training.
Showing elation at the growing relations between the two countries, Vice President Xuan affirmed Vietnam’s commitment to stepping up multifaceted and substantive cooperation with Azerbaijan in line with their long-standing friendship and untapped potential. She also appreciated the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s contributions to bilateral ties, particularly through cultural and educational projects in Vietnam.
She expressed confidence that, with its influence and credibility, the Foundation will continue to act as a bridge between the two nations, while fostering joint efforts in preserving cultural values, promoting public health, educating younger generations, protecting the environment, and intensifying charitable and humanitarian activities.
For her part, Leyla Aliyeva said she is honored to visit Vietnam – a country with a rich history, vibrant culture, and resilient people. She noted that despite geographical distance, Azerbaijan and Vietnam have long shared a traditional friendship cultivated over generations, along with vast potential for cooperation across various fields.
Aliyeva emphasized the Foundation’s dedication to promoting humanitarian and cultural values as a solid basis for enhancing mutual understanding and connecting peoples. She expressed a strong desire to collaborate with Vietnam on concrete initiatives, especially in environmental, educational, and cultural fields. She was also impressed by the Vietnamese Government’s attention to human resource development and support for people with disabilities during her visits to several relevant facilities.

On the same day, Ngo Phuong Ly welcomed Leyla Aliyeva at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum. During the tour, she introduced Aliyeva to various artworks reflecting the cultural identity and deep historical roots of Vietnam.
Ly affirmed that culture serves as a solid foundation for friendship between nations. She said the choice of the Fine Arts Museum for the visit shows Vietnam’s respect for cultural heritage and its willingness to share artistic values with international friends, including Azerbaijan.
Praising the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s efforts to bolster bilateral relations, she noted Vietnam's current focus on social welfare and human resource development, and expressed hope to bolster cooperation with Azerbaijan in culture, education, tourism, the environment, and charitable initiatives for women and children.
Aliyeva expressed admiration for Vietnam’s artistic traditions, adding that that her nation also boasts a vibrant cultural heritage, with its own distinctive painting, architecture, cuisine, and music. She said she hopes that Vietnamese people would soon have opportunities to experience Azerbaijan’s unique culture.
Aliyeva reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to heritage preservation as a vital bridge to strengthen bilateral friendship and cooperation between the two countries’ social organizations and humanitarian foundations.
