Vietnam, Venezuela promote training and capacity building for officials

VOV.VN - President of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics (HCMA) and Chairman of the Central Theory Council Professor Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang on October 23 received Tatiana Pugh Moreno, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela in charge of Asia, the Middle East, and Oceania, and Director of Venezuela’s Institute for Advanced Studies in Diplomacy, who is on a visit to Vietnam.

Thang expressed his pleasure in receiving the delegation and affirmed that Vietnam and Venezuela share a longstanding friendship and are ready to promote bilateral cooperation, suggesting that both sides further develop relations across multiple fields, particularly trade, culture, and cooperation in training, research, and academic exchange.

He underscored that the relationship between the two countries is deeply rooted in the historical struggles of the Vietnamese people for national liberation, with strong support from the Venezuelan people.

Vice Minister Moreno affirmed that bilateral relations have continuously strengthened, building on a long history of cooperation and mutual support dating back to the early years of diplomatic ties, when both nations and peoples shared the struggle for independence. She highlighted the shared history of steadfast and courageous resistance to achieve freedom and sovereignty.

Providing an update on Venezuela, Vice Minister Moreno noted that despite challenges, the country’s economy has maintained continuous growth.

In response, Nguyen Xuan Thang expressed Vietnam’s consistent pursuit of an independent, autonomous, multilateral, and diversified foreign policy, and its role as a responsible member of the international community. He reiterated Vietnam’s support for the independence, nation-building, and development efforts of all countries, including traditional partners.

On the topic of training and developing officials, both leaders agreed to enhance cooperation in specific areas as outlined in existing agreements, focusing on personnel training, research, and policy advisory.

The Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics expressed its desire to expand cooperative projects such as research programs, surveys, and thematic exchanges for Venezuelan leaders and managers.

Thang noted that the Academy currently runs similar programs with Cuba, Angola, and several other countries.

Vice Minister Moreno confirmed Venezuela’s willingness to send officials and experts to Vietnam for training and proposed exploring multilateral cooperation with Cuba and Nicaragua within these programs.

During the meeting, both sides also exchanged experience in their respective foreign policies and expressed confidence that, with foreign policies oriented toward peace and stability, the two countries will achieve their set objectives.
