Top Vietnamese legislator meets Chinese front leader

VOV.VN - National Assembly (NA) Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue met with Wang Huning, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, on April 9 in Beijing.

Both sides noted with satisfaction the positive developments made in the relations between the two Parties and States over recent times and agreed on measures aimed at reinforcing the friendship and cooperation across multiple areas.

They concurred to deepen collaboration efforts between the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) and the CPPCC National Committee, as well as working to intensify the exchange of experience in order to bring into full play their roles in the political life of respective countries, especially the political participation and policy consultation by scholars and intellectuals.

They consented to arrange the third friendship exchange between the VFF Central Committee and the CPPCC National Committee, as well as between seven border localities of Vietnam and the CPPCC committees of China’s Guangxi and Yunnan.

The Vietnamese NA leader also congratulated the northern neighbour on the successful organisation of the meeting of its legislature, stressed the important role of the two groups in the socio-political life of each nation, and suggested they work to maintain high-level contacts and exchanges.

He suggested that both sides boost their trade ties in a balanced and sustainable manner, as well as their road and railway connectivity. Chinese firms should therefore invest in large-scale, high-quality projects, particularly those on green growth, the digital economy, digital data, climate change response, and environmental protection, he went on to say.

The leader also stressed support for co-operation between localities and the need to utilize the two countries’ huge potential for tourism collaboration, as well as the need to increase friendship exchanges and meetings between their residents.

For his part, Wang affirmed that both sides are close neighbours that share many common interests, with the Chinese side always regards Vietnam as a priority in its neighbourhood diplomacy. China therefore stands ready to work with the nation as it seeks to enhance strategic exchanges and  to boost relations between the two Parties and countries in a sustainable fashion.

The CPPCC National Committee always supports the promotion of people-to-people exchanges, the construction and protection of friendship facilities between the two countries, and the further expansion of economic-trade-investment ties.

It can be considered essential for transport connectivity, the building of smart border gates, and co-operation in new energy, key mining sectors, science, high-tech, and education and vocational training. More work is need for the improvement of the frequency and quality of co-operation between localities of the two countries, he said.

Wang noted that the CPPCC National Committee is willing to work alongside the VFF to strengthen exchange, collaboration, and experience sharing, thus significantly contributing to the joint comprehensive strategic co-operative partnership.

As part of this occasion, NA Chairman Hue conveyed the invitation from Do Van Chien, president of the VFF Central Committee, to Wang to soon visit Vietnam, with the invitation being graciously accepted.
