Thorough preparation for personnel matters at NA’s 9th extraordinary session

VOV.VN - The Standing Committees of the National Assembly (NA) Party Committee and the Government’s Party Committee held a meeting in Hanoi on February 6 to prepare for the 9th extraordinary session of the 15th legislature, scheduled to begin on February 12 and conclude on February 18.

The meeting was chaired by the Secretary of the National Assembly’s Party Committee and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, and the Secretary of the Government’s Party Committee Pham Minh Chinh.

In his opening speech, the top Vietnamese legislator emphasized that this was a crucial meeting aimed at reviewing preparations for the 9th extraordinary session of the 15th National Assembly. The goal is to ensure that the session’s contents are of high quality, effective, and gain the highest possible consensus from National Assembly deputies when deciding on the session’s agenda and personnel matters.

The top Vietnamese legislator pointed out that the meeting comes at a time when both the Vietnamese Government and local administrations are reviewing Resolution 18, which focuses on reorganizing administrative structures from the central to local levels. It also coincides with celebrations for the Lunar New Year 2025, as well as the 95th anniversary of the the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Many government and NA agencies have been working tirelessly, even on weekends, with a high sense of responsibility and close coordination to accomplish the tasks assigned.

Man mentioned that on February 5, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly reviewed and provided opinions on the draft amendments to the Law on Government Organization Government Organization Law and the Law on Organization of Local, which will lead to the issuance of resolutions during the 9th extraordinary session. These matters have already received broad consensus from the Standing Committee, though some issues will be discussed further in the February 6 meeting.

Chairman Tran Thanh Man stressed the need to continue innovating thinking and approaches, focusing intensively on national development, while drawing on the experience and responsibilities from recent sessions, particularly the 7th and 8th NA sessions.

He also referenced the implementation of the Politburo’s Resolution No. 19, dated January 20, 2025, on reforming and improving the law-making process.

As of now, the contents of the 9th extraordinary session have been broadly agreed upon, including: consideration of four laws; five resolutions to support the reorganization and improvement of the system and operational mechanisms of political organization; and decisions on four other matters within its authority, including personnel issues. A report will also be presented to the National Assembly as required.

The meeting also heard reports from NA General Secretary and Chairman of the National Assembly Office Le Quang Tung, as well as Minister-Chairman of the Government Office Tran Van Son, on preparations for the upcoming session.
