VOV.VN - Princess of the Kingdom of Thailand Maha Chakri Sirindhorn will pay a working visit to Vietnam from August 13-15 following an invitation of Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan.
The strategic partnership between the two countries is currently growing steadily, with increased political trust recorded in many outstanding, important, substantive, and effective results and achievements. Both countries are effectively implementing the Action Program in a bid to implement the Vietnam-Thailand Enhanced Strategic Partnership for the 2022 to 2027 period.
Thailand is currently Vietnam's largest trading partner in ASEAN and ranks ninth among countries and territories which have direct investment in the Vietnamese market.
The princess is the younger sister of the King of Thailand and has good sentiments towards Vietnam having visited the country five times in 1993, 2000, 2009, 2011, and 2015.
The Princess took many photos of the nation during her visits from 1993 to 2003. From these documents, the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand has compiled a photo book “Vietnam through the lens of Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn”.
The book includes 100 photos expressing the Princess's affection for the country. Of these, 60 were taken by the Princess herself, while the other photos are precious documentary photos taken at meetings with leaders, and people, and during visits to scenic spots or historical and cultural relics locally.
Princess Maha Chakri has also carried out several charity and education projects in Vietnam. Her annual award for outstanding teachers with contributions to education and the community is presented to excellent teachers of the members of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization.
During the visit, the Princess will have a meeting with Vice President Xuan and she is set to visit several universities in Lao Cai and Quang Tri provinces to participate in the Princess-funded project aimed at improving the quality of life of children and youth in the Asia-Pacific region.
She will also engage in a range of activities in Thua Thien-Hue province.
The visit is expected to further contribute to strengthening the joint strategic partnership, thereby creating a solid foundation for the two sides to further promote educational co-operation and people-to-people exchanges in the time ahead.
