Party Secretary General’s great contributions to promoting ties with Thailand praised
VOV.VN - General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Nguyen Phu Trong played a huge role in strengthening the close-knit relationship with Thailand, as well as the people of both nations, according to Thai Minister of Foreign Affairs Maris Sangiampongsa.
Thai Minister of Foreign Affairs Maris Sangiampongsa paid his respects to General Secretary Trong at the Vietnamese Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand, on July 23.
On behalf of the Royal Government and people of Thailand, Minister Sangiampongsa extended his condolences and deep sympathy to the family of General Secretary Trong, as well as the Party, State, and people of Vietnam about this great loss.
Writing in the condolence book, the Thai Foreign Minister emphasized that the Party General Secretary will be remembered as a person of great intelligence and perseverance who devoted his whole life to the cause of national development and to the happiness of the Vietnamese people.
Under the leadership of General Secretary Trong, the nation developed dramatically and grew rapidly, as it continues to do today.
He played a huge role in strengthening the close relationship between both sides, as well as the two peoples, the Vietnamese diplomat said.
Minister Sangiampongsa recalled the historic visit to Thailand in 2013 made by General Secretary Trong, during which the two countries raised their relationship to the level of a strategic partnership, thus further boosting mutual co-operation in a multitude of fields.
In response, Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Pham Viet Hung expressed his thanks to the Thai Minister of Foreign Affairs for paying homage to General Secretary Trong and extending condolences to the Party, State, and people of Vietnam.
