VOV.VN - President Luong Cuong met with officials and employees of the Presidential Office at the start of the Lunar New Year, extending Lunar New Year greetings and calling for stronger reform and greater responsibility in fulfilling assigned duties.
At the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Presidential Office Pham Thanh Ha conveyed New Year greetings to the President, the Vice President and all officials, civil servants and employees of the Office, wishing them and their families good health, happiness and success.
He reported that in 2025, the Presidential Office remained united in overcoming difficulties and challenges, proactively conducting research and providing advice in support of the President’s and Vice President’s domestic and foreign affairs activities, and successfully fulfilling its assigned political tasks.
In line with the working agenda of the President and Vice President, the Office coordinated with relevant agencies to develop programs and ensure timely and effective support for activities before, during and after the Lunar New Year holiday. The Office also paid attention to the material and spiritual well-being of its staff, ensuring that officials and employees celebrated Tet in a warm, joyful, safe and economical manner, in accordance with directives of the Secretariat and the Prime Minister.
Extending New Year greetings to officials and staff, President Luong Cuong acknowledged and hailed the Office for strictly implementing directives of the Secretariat and the Prime Minister, organizing Tet activities for officials and employees, and proactively advising and supporting the President and Vice President in carrying out duties assigned by the Politburo and the Secretariat.
The Presidential Office fulfilled its advisory and support functions, assisting the President and Vice President in exercising their authority and responsibilities as prescribed by the Politburo, the Secretariat, the Constitution and the law.
During the period before, during and after Tet , the Office provided advice and support in directing implementation of tasks related to the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress and the Party’s action program to implement that Resolution.
The Office also supported external affairs activities, including the “Xuan Que Huong” (Homeland Spring) program and meetings between the President and overseas Vietnamese communities around the world.
Activities related to national defence and security, including visits to armed forces units during Tet, were carried out in a timely manner. The Office further supported activities of State leaders in preparation for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly.
Reflecting on the country’s development path, the State leader highlighted achievements over nearly 40 years of pursuing Doi Moi (renewal), noting that from an economy with per capita income of just over US$100, Vietnam has become a middle-income country, with GDP per capita exceeding US$5,000 and economic output reaching more than US$500 billion.
He said these results demonstrate the Party’s leadership, the unity of the people and the important contributions of the political system at all levels.
Regarding the reorganization of the administrative apparatus and implementation of a two-tier local government model from July 1, 2025, the President said initial results have been positive but further review and refinement are needed to ensure the system operates smoothly and effectively, closer to the people and serving them better.
While commending the responsibility and efforts of officials and employees, the President said that in light of increasing demands in the new phase, the Presidential Office must further step up reform, strengthen study and research, improve the quality of advisory work and remain closely aligned with the functions, duties and authority of the President and Vice President to provide timely, accurate and effective recommendations.
President Luong Cuong expressed confidence that with continued effort and learning from practical work, performance in 2026 would surpass that of 2025 and this term would achieve better results than the previous one.
He called on the Presidential Office to uphold its more than 80-year tradition, maintain unity, raise its sense of responsibility, “celebrate the new spring without forgetting duties,” and strive to fulfill all assigned tasks, contributing to the Party and the people’s shared goal of rapid and sustainable development.
