President meets Belarusian friendship association members, veterans

Right after his arrival in Minsk on June 26, President Tran Dai Quang met representatives of the Belarus-Vietnam Friendship Association (BVFA) and Belarusian veterans who helped Vietnam in wartime.

President Quang expressed his gratitude to Belarusian veterans who were sent to Vietnam from the former Soviet Union to help the country fight for independence and freedom.

The President said the association has helped increase solidarity and mutual understanding between the Vietnamese and Belarusian people.

He said the Belarus-Vietnam Friendship Association and the Vietnam-Belarus Friendship Association should enhance the exchange of visits, share experience and educate young generations of the two countries to continue the bilateral friendship.

President Quang expressed his delight at the development of friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Belarus over the years, particularly in politics, economy, national defense and security, science-technology, culture, education and training, and tourism.

Notably, the free trade agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) created a strong momentum in economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries, he noted.

Representatives of the Belarus-Vietnam Friendship Association and Belarusian war veterans congratulated Vietnam on its achievements in national construction and development.

They committed to strive to boost friendship between the people of the two countries, contributing to promoting traditional ties and cooperation between Belarus and Vietnam.

Later on the same day, President Quang and his entourage met the Vietnamese Embassy’s staff and representatives of overseas Vietnamese and students in Belarus.

He reiterated the Party’s and State’s consistent policy of regarding the overseas Vietnamese community, including those in Belarus, as an indispensable part of the Vietnamese nation and an important source for the national development.

President Quang hoped the embassy will continue disseminating the Party’s and State’s external policies and propose measures to further multi-faceted cooperation with Belarus.

The prioritised mission in the coming time is to coordinate with Belarus to boost the effective implementation of the Vietnam-EAEU free trade agreement to increase the bilateral economic and trade partnership, he stressed.
