In his welcome remarks, President Lee expressed his pleasure in hosting APEC leaders in Gyeongju and highlighted 2025 as a milestone year in advancing regional cooperation for a connected, innovative, and prosperous Asia-Pacific.

He emphasized that his nation hopes to work with member economies to strengthen dialogue, build trust, and act together for peace, stability, and sustainable development in the region.

The leaders thanked President Lee Jae Myung and the RoK people for their warm hospitality and congratulated the country on the important outcomes obtained during the 2025 APEC year.

In an open and friendly atmosphere, they discussed opportunities to further regional cooperation across the Asia-Pacific and Indian Ocean regions, reaffirmed APEC’s central role in promoting trade, investment, innovation, and inclusive, sustainable growth, and shared a joint commitment to building a peaceful and stable region.

During the exchange, President Luong Cuong highlighted three key goals that countries should jointly pursue: peace, prosperity, and sustainable development for all economies. He affirmed that, with a deep understanding of the value of peace and national independence, Vietnam is ready to participate in mediation, reconciliation, conflict resolution, and peacebuilding efforts, while actively contributing to post-conflict reconstruction initiatives by the international community. He stressed that prosperity for all nations can only be achieved through sincere, equal, and mutually beneficial cooperation based on respect.

On sustainable development, the Vietnamese State leader emphasized a long-term vision and a balanced, comprehensive approach. He confirmed Vietnam’s readiness to cooperate with partners on programs and projects related to energy, digital economy, circular economy, knowledge economy, and high-quality workforce training.

Vietnam, in its role as host of APEC 2027, will work closely with member economies to build on APEC’s achievements and ensure the Asia-Pacific remains a land of opportunity and success. Vietnam looks forward to welcoming all APEC leaders to the 2027 APEC Economic Leaders’ Week on the beautiful island of Phu Quoc, he added.
