President calls for greater support from Japan-based specialists' association for VN

VOV.VN - President Vo Van Thuong received a delegation of the Japan - Vietnam specialists’ association led by Prof. Ochi Mitsuo, president of Hiroshima University, in Fukuoka city on November 30 as part of his official visit to the Far East nation.

The Vietnamese President attributed both nations’ co-operation achievements partly to substantial contributions made by their people, including the specialists’ association in the fields of science - technology and education - training.

He views the upgrade of joint ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership as a chance for the association to step up co-operation with the Vietnamese side.

Highlighting the association and Hiroshima University’s collaboration activities with the nation, Prof. Ochi said his university and association members hope to enhance ties with the country in manpower training, the semiconductor industry, carbon neutrality, and smart city building. They stand ready to welcome and provide training for Vietnamese students.

The university and the association, which gathers many professors, doctors, and scientists in various areas at universities and research institutions in Japan, hopes to receive support from President Thuong and relevant Vietnamese agencies, he noted.

The Vietnamese State leader applauded Prof. Ochi and other association members’ co-operation with and assistance to the country, which he said has generated practical results in education - training and science - technology.

He also applauded the co-operation programmes launched on agriculture and forestry between Hiroshima University and the Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry.

With regards to Vietnam, its Mekong Delta region has been hit hard by climate change, including sea level rises, with President Thuong asking the association to expand partnerships with universities and localities of Vietnam in this field, in which many Vietnamese universities are studying and wishing to bolster ties with international partners.

Agreeing with the association’s co-operation proposals, the President said they include areas where Vietnam has high demand for. He also called on the association to strive to intensify concrete collaboration activities in the time ahead, particularly in relation to manpower training and semiconductor research and production.
