At the meeting, the National Committee for APEC 2027 reported that preparations for APEC Year 2027 have been carried out proactively, in a coordinated and accelerated manner by ministries, agencies and localities, with initial results achieved in line with the set schedule, quality and effectiveness.

The committee’s organisational structure has been consolidated and is now operating on a regular basis, comprising five specialised subcommittees and the APEC 2027 Secretariat.

The subcommittees have organised a series of domestic and international workshops to prepare the substantive agenda for APEC Leaders’ Week; drafted schedules for activities at various levels; developed concepts for communications work, visual identity and promotional publications; and completed plans to ensure security, public order and medical services throughout APEC Year 2027.

Concluding the meeting, the Government chief stressed that Party General Secretary To Lam has made clear that APEC Leaders’ Week 2027 in Phu Quoc is a high-level external event of special significance, providing an important opportunity to promote the image of a Vietnam that is integrated, innovative, friendly and dynamic to the international community, while also creating strong momentum for the development of Phu Quoc, An Giang province and the Mekong Delta region.

PM Chinh ordered the National Committee for APEC 2027 and its subcommittees to maintain a proactive working spirit, strengthen coordination and implement tasks according to a clear roadmap, with regular reviews, inspections and timely resolution of difficulties, to ensure that all preparations are thorough, safe and effective.

In the immediate term, priority should be given to completing the overall plan for APEC Year 2027 and the implementation plans for each working group for submission to competent authorities in line with the established timeline.

Regarding the conference theme and key messages, the Government leader called for careful consideration of major elements such as solidarity, sustainable development, digital transformation, green transition, science and technology, artificial intelligence, security and safety, and placing people at the centre, based on forecasts of the situation in 2027, so as to clearly convey Vietnam’s role, standing and contributions.

PM Chinh emphasized that the successful organisation of APEC Leaders’ Week 2027 will be a source of pride for Phu Quoc and An Giang province and will help enhance Vietnam’s international role and credibility amid deeper integration.

He stressed the need to make full use of this opportunity to promote the image of a Vietnam that is confident, resilient, independent, self-reliant, peaceful, civilised, hospitable, attentive and sincere.
