Party leader advocates stronger Vietnam-Singapore ruling party ties
VOV.VN - Party General Secretary To Lam has urged closer collaboration between the two ruling parties, particularly in shaping strategic orientations for the training of officials.

During a meeting with Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong in Hanoi on March 26, General Secretary Lam emphasized the significance of the visit, describing it as a key step in advancing and concretizing bilateral ties. He highlighted the visit as the beginning of a new cooperation programme, reinforcing the growing trust, effectiveness, and depth of the Vietnam-Singapore partnership.
He called on both nations to speed up the implementation of their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership by swiftly finalizing and signing an Action Plan for the 2025-2030 period. Reaffirming Vietnam's high regard for Singapore as an ASEAN member and a key development partner, he emphasized the importance of enhancing collaboration between the two ruling parties, particularly in the strategic training of officials.
General Secretary Lam also welcomed Singapore’s proposals for cooperation in green energy and the establishment of a regional green electricity network. He further advocated for upgrading the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) network to become greener, smarter, and more connected.
He praised Singapore’s recent decision to open its market to Vietnamese agricultural and livestock products, while stressing the huge potential for expanded cooperation in food security.
For his part, PM Wong voiced strong support for the strategic cooperation priorities outlined by Party General Secretary Lam. He underscored the importance of reinforcing political trust, deepening mutual understanding, and boosting strategic coordination through increased exchanges at all levels, including Party, Government, and Parliamentary channels.
He also highlighted economic cooperation as a key driver of bilateral ties, stressing the need to maximize existing cooperation mechanisms while developing new frameworks that align with the evolving scale of the Singapore-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
PM Wong reaffirmed Singapore’s commitment to ensuring the effective implementation of cooperation agreements, strengthening labour collaboration, and strengthening people-to-people exchanges. He emphasized the goal of making the Vietnam-Singapore partnership a model of cooperation within ASEAN.

On regional and international issues, PM Wong reiterated his nation’s commitment to stepping up consultation and coordination at multilateral forums, particularly in ASEAN and APEC. He reaffirmed Singapore’s stance on upholding a rules-based international order, reinforcing ASEAN unity as well as the bloc’s central role in the region.
Host and guest consented to deepen ties between their ruling parties, maintain cooperation in strategic leadership training, and establish regular exchanges to enhance mutual understanding, share development experience, and lay a strong foundation for the future of Vietnam-Singapore relations.
