Party chief To Lam briefs Lao leaders on outcomes of 14th National Party Congress

VOV.VN - Within the framework of his state visit to Laos, Party General Secretary To Lam together with General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and President Thongloun Sisoulith, on February 5 co-chaired a conference in Vientiane to brief Lao leaders on the outcomes of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV).

In his address, Party leader To Lam showed his pleasure in representing the CPV Central Committee to share with Lao Party and State leaders the major outcomes of the congress. He said the congress concluded successfully, marking an important milestone in the Party’s 96-year history as well as in Vietnam’s long-standing national development tradition.

To Lam affirmed that the congress was a gathering of unity and consensus, demonstrating the will, resilience, aspirations, determination and cultural strength of both the Vietnamese nation and the Party in a new development period.

He expressed sincere appreciation to the Lao Party, State and people for their consistent attention, support and solidarity with Vietnam’s national construction and defence under all circumstances.

He highlighted that the congress achieved high consensus on policy documents and action programmes, while ensuring strong unity in personnel work, particularly in the selection of the 14th-tenure Central Committee. The congress elected a Central Committee comprising 200 members, including 180 full members and 20 alternate members.

At its first plenum, the Party Central Committee elected the Politburo, the Secretariat and the General Secretary, and consolidated key Party leadership bodies, including the Central Inspection Commission and its chair, while assigning Politburo and Secretariat members to oversee specific areas of work in accordance with Party regulations.

To Lam stressed that members of the 14th-tenure Party Central Committee represent nearly 5.6 million Party members and fully meet requirements regarding moral integrity, prestige, competence and professional capacity.

He said they were entrusted by the congress to assume major responsibilities before the Party and the people to meet the demands of the revolutionary cause in the new development stage.

Further elaborating on the congress outcomes, To Lam noted that it set orientations to build the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat and the leadership of the Party and State into a strong, clean and united collective with high unity in both thought and action, promoting pioneering, exemplary, disciplined and action-oriented leadership dedicated to national development and the well-being of the people.

The congress also approved historic policy decisions to implement the two strategic centenary goals defined at the 13th Party Congress.

He expressed strong confidence that, drawing on Vietnam’s historical foundations, the Party’s nearly century-long leadership experience, public support and cooperation from international partners, including Laos and progressive forces worldwide, Vietnam would successfully implement the congress resolution and build a peaceful, independent, democratic, prosperous, civilised and happy socialist country.

On this occasion, To Lam, on behalf of the Party, State and people of Vietnam, conveyed appreciation for congratulatory messages from the LPRP on the successful organization of the congress.

He described the message as further evidence of enduring comradeship, special solidarity and brotherly bonds between the two Parties, while reflecting the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos cultivated by successive generations of leaders and citizens of both nations.

To Lam reaffirmed that the Communist Party of Vietnam consistently attaches top priority to consolidating and strengthening Vietnam-Laos special relations, regarding Laos’s achievements as shared successes.

He said Vietnam would continue coordinating closely with the LPRP to effectively implement high-level agreements, expand theoretical exchanges and share governance experience, while augmenting comprehensive cooperation across sectors to support implementation of resolutions adopted by both Parties’ congresses, contributing to the interests of the two peoples as well as regional peace, stability and development.

Speaking at the conference, Thongloun Sisoulith once again congratulated the successful organisation of the 14th National Party Congress and expressed firm confidence that, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam headed by To Lam, Vietnam would secure further major achievements in its renewal process, successfully carry out the congress resolution and continue reinforcing national construction and defence while fulfilling its two centennial development goals.

On behalf of the LPRR Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, Thongloun Sisoulith expressed appreciation to To Lam for directly briefing Lao leaders on the congress outcomes, describing the move as a reflection of Vietnam’s special regard and longstanding solidarity with Laos.

The top Lao leader praised Vietnam’s comprehensive and historically significant achievements during the five-year implementation of the 13th Party Congress Resolution, noting that these results have strengthened political stability, maintained social safety, sustained rapid economic growth and enhanced Vietnam’s international and regional standing.

He also lauded preparations and organization of the 14th Party Congress, highlighting modernization measures, including the application of information technology and the use of tablets instead of paper documents, as a valuable lesson.

He voiced confidence that under the CPV leadership, the Vietnamese people would continue attaining major accomplishments in the renewal process and successfully realize the congress resolution, contributing to national goals of prosperity, democracy, fairness and civilization.

He added that the success of the congress serves not only as Vietnam’s achievement but also as an important source of encouragement and valuable experience for Laos in implementing its own Party congress resolution.

Thongloun Sisoulith emphasized the importance of coordination and experience-sharing between the two Parties during implementation of their respective congress resolutions, saying such cooperation would help ensure mutual support and complementarity in policy implementation.

He expressed hope that both sides would continue working closely together, advancing toward a new era of development and achieving the strategic goals set by their Parties.
