The visit takes place shortly after the successful conclusion of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV)and the 12th National Congress of the LPRP.

Party General Secretary To Lam and the Vietnamese Party and State delegation have chosen Laos as the first country visited in the new term.

This is also the first state visit Laos has received following its 12th Party Congress, coming just over a week after Vietnam welcomed the Lao Party General Secretary and President as the first foreign head of state to visit Vietnam after the 14th Party Congress. Together, these developments carry deep political significance and underscore Vietnam’s consistent policy of attaching special importance to, and giving top priority to the Vietnam-Laos relationship.

The visit provides an opportunity for the two Parties and the two countries to reaffirm their special solidarity and  clos-knite and enduring relationship that has been tested, forged and continuously nurtured through history, while also demonstrating the highest level of political resolve by the both sides’  senior leaders to boost bilateral ties in a more substantive and effective manner.

Party chief’s State visit to Laos to inject strong momentum into bilateral ties

The State visit to Laos on February 5 by General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee To Lam is expected to create strong new momentum for the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and strategic cohesion between the two countries.
