Laos congratulates Vietnam on 80-year achievements

Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam on August 19-20 received delegations from Lao central agencies and local authorities who came to extend congratulations on Vietnam’s 80th National Day (September 2, 1945 – 2025).

Tam stressed that the people of Vietnam and Laos stood shoulder to shoulder throughout their struggles for national liberation, forging an exceptionally close fighting solidarity – a rare relationship in world history, which has become an invaluable asset and a vital factor for the survival and development of both nations.

The Lao representatives praised Vietnam’s great and comprehensive achievements of historic significance over the past eight decades, particularly since the Doi Moi (renewal) policy was launched in 1986. From a war-torn and impoverished nation, Vietnam has risen to become the world’s 33rd largest economy and one of the fastest-growing globally. The country has increasingly integrated into the international community, facilitated trade and investment, improved living standards, and affirmed its growing role and position on the world stage.

As a close friend and comrade sharing the same revolutionary ideals with Vietnam, the Lao Party, State, and people always follow, share, and take pride in Vietnam’s achievements. These are not only a source of common pride but also great encouragement and an important driving force for the Lao people in their nation building and development process.

The Vietnamese ambassador affirmed that throughout history, the two countries have always stood together, sharing both hardships and successes. This loyal, steadfast relationship continues to be nurtured today and will grow ever stronger in the future.
