Kremlin praises dynamic growth in Vietnam-Russia relations
VOV.VN - Dialogue between Vietnam and Russia continues to thrive across various levels, from working meetings to high-level discussions, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated.
This dynamic growth in cooperation between the two countries, he emphasized, is rooted in strong political dialogue and mutual understanding. Peskov made these remarks during a recent media interview in Russia on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of both nations’ diplomatic relations.
Russia places great importance on its ties with Vietnam, one of its closest and most reliable partners in Asia. Since 2012, the relationship has been elevated to a comprehensive strategic partnership, reflecting mutual trust and providing a solid foundation for further collaboration in politics, economics, and international cooperation.
Peskov commended Vietnam for its remarkable achievements since gaining independence, noting its significant socio-economic progress. He highlighted Vietnam’s per capita GDP growth, which has multiplied since 1991, and its transformation into a key agricultural exporter, achieving self-sufficiency in agriculture.
Regarding bilateral cooperation, Peskov underscored the Nuclear Technology Center project involving Russia’s Rosatom group as a standout example. He noted that peaceful nuclear energy development is a crucial driver for Vietnam's next stage of growth. Russia remains committed to supporting Vietnam as a key trade and economic partner.
Peskov emphasized the importance of ensuring future generations in both countries understand their shared history and longstanding friendship. He praised the heroism of the Vietnamese people during their struggle against US aggression and expressed pride in Russia's support for Vietnam, contributing to its victory in 1975.
He called for writers, poets, and filmmakers to creatively recount these historical moments, using media platforms to preserve and enhance the accomplishments of Vietnam-Russia relations. Russia is ready and eager to collaborate with Vietnam in these cultural and historical initiatives, Peskov affirmed.
