Top legislator urges national interests to take priority at NA session

VOV.VN - National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, in his opening remarks at the 10th session of the legislature in Hanoi on October 20, requested that all deputies must place the interests of the nation and the Fatherland above all in every decision and action.

He called on all deputies to maximise their responsibility, using their wisdom and experience to effectively contribute to legislative work and oversight. He stressed that the drafting and approval of bills must aim to serve the country’s long-term interests, ensure feasibility and flexibility, and avoid rigid regulations that do not suit practical development.

In addition, the Chairman urged the deputies to focus on removing institutional and policy bottlenecks—barriers that hinder socio-economic development. This, he said, will not only help unlock the country’s resources but also improve the effectiveness of state management, creating favourable conditions for businesses and citizens to thrive.

The session, the final of the 15th National Assembly, is expected to review, discuss, and decide on many key national issues, including 49 laws, marking the heaviest legislative agenda in the history of its sessions. This underscores the principle that legislation should lead the way, fostering innovation and prioritising the well-being and interests of the people as the foundation for policymaking.

The legislature will also evaluate the results of the 2025 socio-economic development plan, state budget, and public investment plan; and decide on the socio-economic development plan and state budget estimates for 2026, along with the mid-term plan for 2026-2030.

Moreover, the deputies will discuss national target programmes such as new rural development, sustainable poverty reduction, development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, as well as improving the quality of education and health care. They will also consider adjustments to the national master plan and ratify foreign treaties.

Chairman Man also emphasised the role of the National Assembly in supervising and controlling power to prevent vested interests and corruption, ensuring social fairness. He called on the deputies to carry out their supervisory responsibilities seriously, contributing to building a clean and strong government.

The session is set to last approximately 40 days till December 11, 2025.
