Top legislator encourages children’s engagement in socio-political affairs
VOV.VN - National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man praised children’s exemplary role models and expected them to soon engage in the country’s socio-political affairs, during his speech at the second Children’s National Assembly mock session in Hanoi on September 29.
Speaking at the function, he commended the child delegates for their achievements they excel in their studies, noting hundreds of them have won national and international awards, helping to glorify Vietnam globally.
He said he was happy to see that the child delegates held in-group discussions and a questioning session dwelling on topics of great public concern, such as preventing and combating school violence, and preventing the harmful effects of tobacco and stimulants in school.
The top legislator assured that recommendations made by the delegates would be considered by relevant ministries and agencies, as they were done following the first mock session last year.
The National Assembly, the Government, and various ministries, agencies, and organizations will study these recommendations during the process of drafting and enacting policies and laws to address their issues, he said.
He stressed that the Party and State always pay special attention to the care, protection and education of children.
For the past nearly 40 years of implementing the national Doi Moi (Renewal) process, alongside socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security, and building a strong political system, Vietnam has made significant comprehensive achievements in the care, education, and protection of children, which have been recognized and highly appreciated by the United Nations, said the top legislator.
Man, however, expressed his concerns that many children in some areas still face difficulties accessing educational and healthcare services. Moreover, burning issues such as domestic violence, child abuse, child labour, as well as accidents and injuries affecting children continue to occur here and there, posing a threat to children’s lives and negatively impacting their physical and mental health.
He requested that National Assembly agencies, the Government, ministries, sectors, and localities to continue to thoroughly grasp and effectively implement Party guidelines and State policies and laws regarding the protection, care, and education of children.
It’s necessary to refine legal policies on the prevention of violence and abuse against children, and to address the harmful effects of tobacco, electronic cigarettes, and heated tobacco products, said the National Assembly Chairman.
He urged teachers, parents, and the community to pay more attention to, listen to, and share children’s ideas, provide love and thorough care for children, and protect them at all times and in all places, contributing to the development of the country’s future generation.
The National Assembly chairman expressed his hope that the children across the country will always remember and follow President Ho Chi Minh’s five teachings, to become the future masters of the nation and help to build a prosperous Vietnam that stands alongside the great powers of the world, as President Ho cherished and envisioned during his lifetime.
