Special art programme for overseas Vietnamese in homeland

VOV.VN - The State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted a special art programme for overseas Vietnamese who returned home for the 2022 lunar New Year holiday (Tet).

In his opening remarks, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son reviewed Vietnam’s major achievements in 2021, saying the country basically controlled the prolonged COVID-19 outbreak, gradually shifted to a strategy of living safely with the virus, secured positive economic growth and promoted external relations.

He attributed the encouraging results to clear-sighted leadership of the Party, bold COVID-19 control measures by the Government and the strong determination by Vietnamese people, including those living overseas.

“Especially, at the most difficult and challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, the spirit of great national unity was even more strongly promoted,” stressed the Foreign Minister, affirming the overseas Vietnamese community is an inseparable part and an important resource of the Vietnamese nation.

Attending the programme, State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc extended his best wishes to Vietnamese people, including those living, working and studying overseas on the 2022 lunar New Year holiday.

He affirmed that over the years the Party and State have introduced numerous policies to create favourable conditions for Vietnamese citizens to reside stably in their host countries and invest back in the homeland.

“I am happy that despite living a hard life, Vietnamese people abroad unite to adapt to the pandemic, help each other to overcome difficulties, restore business, and even lend a helping hand to support local people and their compatriots in the fatherland,” said President Phuc.

He expressed his belief that Vietnamese expatriates abroad, in any circumstances, will always uphold the spirit of solidarity and optimism to get through turbulence and turn their harts to the homeland.

During the special art programme, artists staged traditional dances and songs in praise of the unity tradition of Vietnamese people, as well as the new spring.
