Party chief To Lam pays pre-Tet visit to former leader Nong Duc Manh

VOV.VN - Party General Secretary To Lam on February 2 visited and extended Lunar New Year (Tet) greetings to former Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh and his family in Hanoi.

The visit marks the 96th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930–2026), the successful organisation of the 14th National Party Congress, and the coming Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026.

On behalf of Party and State leaders, Party General Secretary To Lam expressed gratitude for former leader Manh’s continued attention and valuable contributions to the Party and the State. He wished him and his family good health, happiness and success in the new year.

Party General Secretary To Lam briefed his predecessor on the country’s situation over the past year and major strategic orientations set by the 14th National Party Congress, which focus on renewing the Party’s leadership methods, placing people at the centre, and taking the happiness and well-being of the people as the ultimate goal of development.

He affirmed that the 14th Party Central Committee, the Politburo and the Secretariat would direct the effective implementation of the Congress’s resolution from the early months of 2026. He expressed hope to continue receiving advice and intellectual contributions from veteran leaders for national development in the new period.

Former Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh welcomed the country’s socio-economic achievements and voiced strong confidence in the 14th Party Central Committee, saying that under the Party’s sound leadership and national unity, Vietnam would continue to make new strides and successfully fulfil its goals for 2026 and beyond.

The same day, President Luong Cuong also paid a pre-Tet visit to former Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh, expressing appreciation for his contributions to the revolutionary cause, national renewal and development.

President Luong Cuong discussed with the former leader the country’s recent developments and strategic orientations set by the 14th Party Congress, aiming to lead Vietnam confidently into a new era of peace, independence, democracy, prosperity and happiness.

Former Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh thanked the Party and State leaders for their warm sentiments and expressed confidence that following the success of the 14th National Party Congress, Vietnam would enter a new phase of development with further achievements.
