Party chief calls on Public Security Intelligence to stay ahead in new era
VOV.VN - Vietnamese Party General Secretary To Lam has called on the People’s Public Security Intelligence Force to renew its strategic thinking and stay one step ahead as the country enters a new phase of development.
The People’s Public Security Intelligence Force must pursue breakthrough reforms in organisation, operational methods and personnel development to meet new national security challenges, he said at a ceremony in Hanoi on February 8 to mark the force’s 80th founding anniversary (February 21, 1946 – 2026).
The Party said the Communist Party of Vietnam has set a goal for Vietnam to become a developing country with modern industry and upper-middle income status by 2030, and a high-income developed economy by 2045.
To meet the centenary goal. the People’s Public Security forces, particularly the intelligence branch, play a critical role in safeguarding the Party, the State and the people, he stressed.
Against a backdrop of rapid and complex global and regional developments, the General Secretary urged the intelligence force to enhance strategic foresight and forecasting capacity, provide timely and accurate policy advice, and remain absolutely loyal to the Party, the Fatherland and the people, while continuing to build a clean, strong, elite and modern force.
The top leader also paid tribute to fallen intelligence officers, revolutionary families and generations of personnel who made silent sacrifices for national independence, security and public safety, expressing confidence that the force would continue to achieve new successes in the years ahead.
On February 21, 1946, President Ho Chi Minh signed Decree No. 23, establishing the Vietnam Public Security Service, with intelligence work designated as its first core mission.
Over the past eight decades, the People’s Public Security Intelligence Force has remained steadfastly loyal to the Party and the nation, contributing significantly to national liberation, security protection and strategic policymaking, while also supporting Vietnam’s external relations and international standing.
In recognition of its achievements, the force has received numerous top national honours, including two Gold Star Orders, four Ho Chi Minh Orders, and multiple titles of Hero of the People’s Armed Forces.
At the ceremony, General Secretary To Lam presented the Ho Chi Minh Order to the intelligence force and conferred additional honours on outstanding collectives and individuals.
