Party Central Committee finalises preparations for 14th National Party Congress

VOV.VN - The 15th plenum of the 13th Party Central Committee convened its closing session in Hanoi on December 23, completing all agenda items and tasks as scheduled, including key preparations for the 14th National Party Congress.

In his closing remarks, Party General Secretary To Lam stated that after two days of intensive, democratic, and responsible deliberations, the Party Central Committee successfully fulfilled the entire agenda with a high level of unity, consensus, and quality. Members of the Party Central Committee demonstrated strong commitment, openness, objectivity, scientific thinking, and a profound sense of responsibility to the Party, the People, and the nation.

The Central Committee held thorough and in-depth discussions and unanimously adopted the draft Report of the 13th Party Central Committee on the documents to be submitted to the 14th National Party Congress, particularly the Political Report and the Action Programme for the implementation of the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress.

At the same time, the Party Central Committee agreed to adopt a report on Party personnel work to be submitted to the 14th National Party Congress. With an overwhelming majority of votes, it approved the list of nominees for the 14th Party Central Committee, as well as candidates for the Politburo, the Secretariat, and key leadership positions of the Party and the State for the 2026–2031 term.

The Party chief emphasised that over nearly a century of leadership, the Communist Party of Vietnam has guided the Vietnamese revolution to achieve great and historically significant accomplishments. The implementation of the 1991 platform for national construction in the transitional period toward socialism, and its amended and supplemented version in 2011, has reaffirmed that the Party’s Đổi mới (Renewal) policy is correct, creative, and well-suited to Vietnam’s realities and global development trends. The path toward socialism, he stressed, is an objective necessity for the country and consistent with the spirit of the times.

According to the General Secretary, 40 years of renewal, particularly the achievements of the 13th Party Congress term, are the result of persistent, continuous, and determined efforts by the entire Party, the State, and the People. From this process, the Party has drawn valuable lessons of high theoretical significance and practical relevance, providing strategic guidance for the country’s revolutionary cause in the new development stage.

The Party Central Committee held that in the new revolutionary period, Vietnam would press ahead with three strategic breakthroughs: a strong breakthrough in development institutions and the promotion of decentralisation and delegation of authority; acceleration of science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation, alongside development of new productive forces and new models and methods of production and business; and restructuring of the economy together with the improvement of the quality of human resources, particularly high-quality and highly skilled personnel.

Priority will be given to talent attraction and utilisation, comprehensive reform of cadre work, encouragement and protection of dynamic, innovative officials who dare to think, act, take responsibility, and make sacrifices for the common good, he said.

At the same time, he added, Vietnam will continue to advance synchronised and substantive breakthroughs in socio-economic infrastructure development, especially in transport, technology, and energy.

General Secretary To Lam underscored that the 14th National Party Congress is a major political event of both the Party and the nation, marking an important historical milestone in the Ho Chi Minh era and ushering in a new phase of national development with strong aspirations for progress.

In light of the close attention and high expectations of Party members and the People nationwide, the General Secretary called on members of the Central Committee and Party organisations at all levels to continue upholding a strong sense of responsibility, effectively implement the Resolution of the 15th Plenum, and focus on completing all remaining tasks to ensure the successful organisation of the 14th National Party Congress in line with the approved plans and schedule.

The Communist Party of Vietnam is scheduled to hold its 14th national congress in Hanoi in late January 2026.
