New PM pushes for reforms, targets stalled projects at first key meeting
VOV.VN - Newly elected Prime Minister Le Minh Hung has outlined key governance priorities, including accelerating reforms, resolving stalled projects and advancing digital transformation, during his first meeting with the Government’s standing board and its Party Committee.
At his first high-level meeting after the formation of the 2026–2031 administration, Prime Minister Hung called for immediate action to translate strategic Party directives into concrete implementation plans.
He stressed that the Government’s action programme for the coming five years must clearly assign responsibilities to ministries, sectors and localities, alongside defined timelines and deliverables, in order to drive rapid yet sustainable economic growth.
Rather than general orientations, the Prime Minister underscored the need for a results-based approach, with measurable outcomes and accountability at all levels.
A major focus of the meeting was the acceleration of efforts to resolve long-delayed and stalled projects, which have tied up significant public and private resources.
While more than 1,000 projects have seen progress under previous resolutions, around 1,500 projects nationwide remain unresolved. The Prime Minister instructed relevant agencies to expand the scope of intervention and finalise a comprehensive report proposing further solutions.
The move is aimed at unlocking capital, avoiding resource waste and injecting momentum into economic growth, he said.
The Prime Minister also called for urgent revisions to the Government’s working regulations to enhance operational efficiency, effectiveness and responsiveness.
He emphasised that governance reform must go beyond procedural adjustments, requiring new thinking and improved coordination across institutions, in line with broader directives from Party leadership.
Digital transformation, science and technology, and innovation were identified as central pillars of Vietnam’s next development phase, according to the PM.
He therefore requested the swift consolidation of the standing body of the Government’s steering committee in these areas, including the implementation of Project 06, which focuses on data integration and digital public services.
