NA Standing Committee to review structure and size of new Government

VOV.VN - The National Assembly Standing Committee is set to convene its 56th session in Hanoi over one and a half days, from the afternoon of April 1, to deliberate on a range of key issues, including the organisational structure and number of members of the new Government.

The committee is also expected to discuss personnel matters to be submitted to the first session of the 16th National Assembly slated for early April.

In terms of lawmaking, the committee will review a draft law amending and supplementing several provisions of the Law on Social Insurance. It will also consider adopting a resolution to revise provisions of a Resolution on salary scales and allowances for state officials, including leadership positions, as well as professional salary frameworks in the court and procuracy sectors. A comprehensive review of the legal normative system will also be examined.

Regarding oversight, the committee will assess reports on the implementation of the 2025 supervision programme and early 2026 activities, while also considering the proposed supervision programme for 2027.

On major national issues, the committee will review government reports on the supplementary assessment of socio-economic development outcomes in 2025, as well as the implementation of socio-economic development plans in the early months of 2026. It will also consider the draft five-year socio-economic development plan for 2026–2030.

In addition, the committee will examine reports on state budget implementation, including the 2025 budget performance, early 2026 developments, and the final settlement of the 2024 state budget. Reports on thrift practice and anti-wastefulness efforts in 2025, as well as overall state finance in 2024, will also be reviewed.

The session will also consider government submissions on public investment plans, including the implementation of the 2021–2025 medium-term public investment plan and the proposed plan for 2026–2030, alongside national financial plans and public debt management strategies for the same periods.

Other issues on the agenda include arrangements for office space, facilities, and equipment to support the operations of the 16th National Assembly, as well as amendments to spending regulations ensuring the legislature’s functioning.

At the session, the Standing Committee will also give more opinions on preparations for the first session of the 16th National Assembly.
