General To Lam relieved of Public Security Minister post
VOV.VN - Deputies to the National Assembly on May 22 approved a resolution to relieve General To Lam of his post as Minister of Public Security.

The resolution was made on the Prime Minister request.
General Lam was elected new President of Vietnam in the 2021-2026 tenure by National Assembly deputies on the same day. He took an oath of office and delivered a speech at the swearing-in ceremony.
General Lam was born in 1957 from northern Hung Yen province. He is a professor and doctor of law.
He is a member of the Political Bureau (tenures XII and XIII), a member of the Party Central Committee (tenures XI, XII, XIII), and a deputy to the National Assembly (tenures XIV and XV).
He is also deputy head of the Central Steering Committee for Prevention and Control of Corruption and Negative Phenomena, a member of the National Defense and Security Council, and a member of the Central Steering Committee for Judicial Reform.
He was appointed Minister of Public Security in April 2016, and had held the post till May 22, 2024.
In another development, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed a decision on May 22, designating Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quoc To, Deputy Minister of Public Security, to take the helm of the Ministry of Public Security.
