Fatherland Front reinforces national unity amid institutional reform
VOV.VN - As Vietnam accelerates institutional reforms to build a leaner and more effective political system, the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) is consolidating its structure and strengthening its role in fostering national unity and social consensus.
In a recent year-end interview, Politburo member Bui Thi Minh Hoai, President of the VFF Central Committee, described 2025 as a landmark year in organisational restructuring for the Front system.
According to her, the consolidation and streamlining of socio-political organisations under the common umbrella of the Fatherland Front is not merely an administrative adjustment. Rather, it reflects strong political resolve to build a lean, efficient and effective political system capable of meeting the country’s development requirements in a new era.
Under Decision No. 304-QD/TW dated June 10, 2025, the restructuring marked a new chapter in strengthening the great national unity bloc and reinforcing the close ties between the Party, the State and the people. Since July 1, 2025, the VFF Central Committee has operated with 29 affiliated units, while provincial- and grassroots-level Front organisations nationwide have been reorganised in accordance with Party regulations, ensuring smooth and stable operations.
Hoai emphasised that this streamlined structure has made the “common home” of the Fatherland Front more cohesive and effective, enabling it to better aggregate the voices of workers, farmers, intellectuals, religious communities and overseas Vietnamese. The consolidation enhances the Front’s capacity to serve as a bridge between the Party, the State and the people, while expanding its role in supervision, social criticism and policy consultation.
The effectiveness of this unified structure was clearly demonstrated during the severe natural disasters that struck several regions in 2025. In response to widespread damage caused by storms and floods, the VFF launched two nationwide appeals for support. Over 122 days, more than 1.4 million individuals and over 17,000 organisations contributed resources worth more than VND1.44 trillion at the central level. Across the entire Front system, total mobilised support exceeded VND4.15 trillion, with over VND3.47 trillion already disbursed by early February 2026.
Beyond mobilising funds, the Fatherland Front coordinated closely with local authorities and socio-political organisations to ensure assistance reached the right beneficiaries. Thousands of “Great Solidarity Houses” were built or repaired, livelihoods were restored, and children returned to school. The Front also strengthened supervision to prevent misuse or waste of relief resources, reinforcing public trust.
Hoai noted that while natural disasters may destroy property, they cannot erode the Vietnamese people’s enduring tradition of solidarity and compassion. The Front’s role, she said, lies not only in resource mobilisation but in nurturing and sustaining that spirit of mutual support.
Looking ahead to 2026, a year marked by preparations for the election of the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term, as well as the upcoming 11th National Congress of the VFF, the organisation will focus on several strategic priorities.
These include disseminating and implementing the resolution of the 14th National Party Congress; promoting the people’s right to mastery in the electoral process; enhancing mechanisms for supervision and social criticism; expanding digital platforms for voter feedback under the “Digital Front” initiative; organising a nationwide “Month of Listening to the People”; and piloting a provincial-level social trust index to measure public confidence and social consensus.
The VFF will also continue renewing its mass mobilisation campaigns and emulation movements to inspire patriotism, innovation and civic responsibility across all social strata, including workers, farmers, youth, women, intellectuals, entrepreneurs, ethnic minorities, religious communities and overseas Vietnamese.
Hoai underscored that the decisive factor in fulfilling these tasks lies in building a contingent of capable, dedicated and innovative Front officials who internalise the principle that “the people are the root,” taking public satisfaction and well-being as the ultimate measure of performance.
Extending her Lunar New Year greetings to citizens at home and abroad, she called on all Vietnamese to uphold the spirit of self-reliance and unity, transform trust and aspiration into creativity in work and study, and contribute to building a prosperous, peaceful and happy nation.
With its newly consolidated structure, the Fatherland Front, she affirmed, will remain a trusted platform for gathering and promoting the people’s collective strength, contributing to Vietnam’s strong rise in the years ahead.
