Fatherland Front leader pays 2025 Christmas visit to Catholics in HCM City
VOV.VN - A delegation of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) led by Do Van Chien, head of the VFF Central Committee, on December 22 visited and extended greetings to Catholic dignitaries, priests and followers of the Vietnam Catholic Bishops’ Conference in Ho Chi Minh City on the 2025 Christmas.
On behalf of the Party and State, Chien conveyed warm Christmas and New Year wishes to Archbishop Nguyen Nang, chairman of the Vietnam Catholic Bishops’ Conference, and Catholic followers in the Archdiocese of Ho Chi Minh City as well as the Catholic community nationwide.
He praised the contributions of the Archbishop, priests, and Catholic community in supporting the Party, government, and people in successfully achieving the socio-economic development goals in 2024. He highlighted the Archbishop’s significant role in fostering national unity, along with his efforts in engaging in environmental protection and improving community welfare.
“I hope that the Archbishop, clergy, and Catholic followers will continue upholding the tradition of “living the gospel, serving the Christ, and serving the nation”, and working with the Party, military, and people to achieve even greater successes,” he said.
“The upcoming 14th National Party Congress is not only a major political event but also a moment marking the nation’s ascent into a new era of prosperity. I believe that the Catholic Church will understand and support these goals,” added Chien.
Archbishop Nguyan Nang expressed his gratitude for the care and recognition of the Party, State, and Vietnam Fatherland Front towards the Catholic community. He shared the Church’s efforts in social, environmental, and charitable activities, emphasizing the spirit of “living the gospel, serving the Christ, and serving the nation”, and the commitment of priests, clergy, and parishioners to accompany the nation through challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic and social issues.
“The Catholic Church remains committed to serving the community and the nation within its capacity. In response to Pope Francis’ call, we are trying to protect the environment, because environmental issues are a global concern, and it’s vital to act now. Through these small contributions, we aim to affirm the Church’s commitment to building the country,” said the Archbishop.
On the same day, the VFF leader visited and extended Christmas greetings to Knight of the Grand Cross Le Duc Thinh, one of the first Vietnamese and Asians to be honoured with this title by Pope Benedict XVI for his meaningful contributions across various social fields.
Chien commended Knight Le Duc Thinh’s contributions to the Vietnam Fatherland Front’s work and his role in strengthening national unity. He hoped that the Knight would continue to channel his passion into supporting the underprivileged and contributing to a harmonious, happy society.
In response, Knight Le Duc Thinh affirmed his commitment to upholding Party and State policies and continuing to contribute to the development of Ho Chi Minh City and the nation.
