Youth of Vietnam and China join hands to promote traditional friendship
VOV.VN - The youth of Vietnam and China will continue joining hands to preserve and promote the traditional friendship between the two countries, agreed the leaders of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Vietnam and the Communist Youth League of China during talks in Hanoi on April 13.

Bui Quang Huy, first secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Vietnam, noted that the youth organisations of the two countries have in recent years enhanced exchanges and cooperation, bringing practical benefits and results for their young people.
They have continuously nurtured the traditional friendship between the youth and people of the two countries, and together have contributed to promoting the healthy and stable development of the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, in line with the principles of “Good neighborliness, comprehensive cooperation, long-term stability, and forward-looking future.”
Reviewing the achievements of the youth organisations of both countries in recent years, linked with the 2024-2027 cooperation document, Huy proposed several activities for cooperation between the youth of Vietnam and China in general, and between the youth organisations of the two countries in particular.
He said Vietnam and China should further strengthen youth cooperation by promoting education on their traditional friendship, especially during the Year of Vietnam – China Humanistic Exchange 2025. Both sides will expand theoretical research on youth-related policies and organise meaningful joint activities. One such initiative is the launch of the Red Journey where the youth from both countries will visit historic revolutionary sites to better understand the shared revolutionary history and solidarity between the two Parties and states.
On this occasion, Huy invited leaders of the Communist Youth League of China to participate in an online conference in June 2025 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth League, the predecessor of the Communist Party of Vietnam. The League was founded in June 1925 in Guangzhou (China) by leader Nguyen Ai Quoc (President Ho Chi Minh), with the aim of promoting Marxism-Leninism, training revolutionary cadres, and preparing conditions for the establishment of a proletarian political party in Vietnam.
For his part, A Dong, first secretary of the Communist Youth League of China, expressed strong agreement with Huy’s proposals, and affirmed that the “good comradeship” between Vietnam and China serves as a solid foundation for implementing youth cooperation and exchange activities during the Year of Vietnam-China Humanistic Exchange 2025, as well as in the future.
He proposed that both sides coordinate to effectively implement and expand the organisation of the 25th Vietnam-China Youth Friendship Meeting, suggesting the inclusion of online formats to increase participant numbers.
He also suggested that the two sides jointly carry out more small-scale, in-person exchange activities to provide more opportunities for young people to meet and learn from each other, especially in border localities.
A Dong appreciated the Red Journey initiative, considering it an effective one that will make an important contribution to enhancing mutual understanding and improving the knowledge and political theory of Vietnamese and Chinese youth. This initiative, he noted, is closely tied to the history of both countries and the formation and development of the two Parties.
The talks were part of the 24th Vietnam – China Youth Friendship Meeting that is taking place in Hanoi, Quang Ninh, Ninh Binh and Ho Chi Minh City from April 12-18.
