Vietnamese leaders congratulate Singaporean PM on election results
VOV.VN - Senior Vietnamese leaders extended congratulations to Lawrence Wong, Secretary-General of the People’s Action Party (PAP) and Prime Minister of Singapore, on Singapore’s successful organisation of its 14th Parliamentary General Election, in which the PAP secured a landslide victory.
The messages of congratulation were cabled by To Lam, Secretary General of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, and Pham Minh Chinh, Prime Minister of Vietnam.
On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son also sent a congratulatory message to Singapore’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan.
The ruling People’s Action Party got 87 seats in the 97-seat parliament, while the main opposition Workers Party held on to its 10 seats.
The ruling party also increased its vote share, garnering 65.57% of the national vote compared to the 61.2% in the 2020 election.
