State President Luong Cuong was speaking during his reception for President of the Cuban National Assembly of People’s Power Esteban Lazo Hernandez, in Hanoi on September 30.

President Cuong warmly welcomed the visit of the high-ranking delegation of the Cuban National Assembly, highlighting the significance of recent high-level exchanges between the two countries, particularly the state visit to Cuba by Party General Secretary To Lam in September 2024, and the visit to Vietnam by First Secretary and President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermudez in September 2025.

Those activities marked important milestones, deepened political trust, and opened new directions for bilateral cooperation in economy, trade, and investment, he stressed.

Emphasizing that 2025 marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (1960–2025), President Cuong reaffirmed Vietnam’s determination to make the best use of the strengths of both sides, bringing Vietnam–Cuba cooperation to new depths of substance and effectiveness, commensurate with their exemplary, faithful, and pure friendship.

For his part, President of the Cuban National Assembly Esteban Lazo Hernandez conveyed solidarity and heartfelt condolences from the Cuban Party, State, National Assembly, and people to Vietnamese families affected by typhoons Ragasa and Bualoi. He voiced his confidence that, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Vietnamese people would successfully achieve their development goals by 2030 and 2045.

President Lazo Hernandez thanked the Vietnamese people for their affection and support through the fundraising programme “65 Years of Vietnam–Cuba Solidarity”, stressing that Cuba always treasures Vietnam’s companionship and practical assistance, which serve as a source of encouragement for Cuba to overcome current difficulties.

He affirmed that the Cuban National Assembly would continue to strengthen cooperation with the Vietnamese National Assembly, promote exchanges between legislators and localities, implement the outcomes of the second meeting of the Vietnam–Cuba Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee, and facilitate Vietnamese businesses operating in Cuba.

On this occasion, President Lazo Hernandez conveyed an invitation from First Secretary and President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermudez to President Luong Cuong to visit Cuba at a convenient time. President Luong Cuong accepted the invitation with pleasure.
