Vietnam persistently calls for peaceful solution to conflict in Ukraine
VOV.VN - Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, permanent representative of Vietnam to the United Nations, has reaffirmed Vietnam’s consistent stance on resolving international disputes and conflicts, including one in Ukraine, through peaceful means.

Addressing the 11th Emergency Special Session (ESS) on Ukraine of the UN General Assembly on February 24, Giang stressed that such a resolution must be based on international law and the UN Charter, particularly the fundamental principles of respecting independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and refraining from the use or threat of force.
Sharing the deep concerns of the international community over the prolonged conflict’s consequences and negative impacts, the ambassador called on all parties to immediately cease hostilities, avoid actions that escalate tensions, prioritize the protection of civilians and civilian infrastructure, and facilitate urgent humanitarian assistance for affected populations.
He voiced Vietnam’s support for the United Nations' role in maintaining international peace and security and commended constructive initiatives aimed at fostering dialogue to end the conflict based on international law and the UN Charter, taking into account the legitimate roles and interests of all concerned parties.
The Vietnamese representative emphasized that solutions to the conflict must be achieved through consensus and the participation of all directly involved parties, rather than exacerbating divisions and confrontations.
On this occasion, he reaffirmed Vietnam’s readiness to make positive contributions to the diplomatic process as well as the reconstruction and recovery efforts in Ukraine, in pursuit of regional and global peace and stability.
During the session, the UN General Assembly reviewed and voted on two resolutions regarding the conflict, calling for a ceasefire and the restoration of peace in Ukraine.
The Emergency Special Session was held to mark three years since the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
