Vietnam affirms desire for peaceful solution to Russia-Ukraine conflict
VOV.VN - Vietnam supports international mediation efforts aimed at achieving a lasting peaceful resolution to the Russia – Ukraine conflict, with the participation of all relevant parties, in line with international law and the United Nations Charter, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh told President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Chinh, who is in Davos, Switzerland, for the 55th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF), was speaking during his short meeting on January 21 with Zelensky on the sidelines of the global gathering.
He reiterated that all disputes must be resolved peacefully, in accordance with the fundamental principles of international law and the United Nations Charter. These principles include respecting the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of nations; refraining from the use or threat of force; and considering the legitimate interests of all parties involved.
Vietnam is ready to contribute to international efforts to promote dialogue and seek peaceful solutions to the conflict, he said.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the traditional friendship, partnership, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Ukraine.
They agreed to maintain and strengthen bilateral cooperation, including high-level delegation exchanges. They emphasized the importance of finding effective and appropriate measures to sustain growth momentum, restore trade exchanges, and resume the activities of the Intergovernmental Committee on Economic and Trade Cooperation.
On this occasion, Chinh requested that the Ukrainian government continue to ensure the safety and well-being of Vietnamese citizens residing and working in Ukraine, while creating favourable conditions for their daily lives.
