Vietnam is Hungary's most important partner in Southeast Asia
VOV.VN - President Katalin Novak has hailed Vietnam’s rising position globally, considering the Southeast Asian nation the most important partner of Hungary in the region.
Receiving Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in Budapest on January 19, Novak warmly welcomed Chinh’s visit, considering it an important milestone in the Hungary-Vietnam Comprehensive Partnership.
Hungary always views Vietnam as the most important partner in Southeast Asia, she said, hoping cooperative relations between the two countries would continue to develop extensively and substantially in all fields and become a model in East-West cooperation.
Chinh for his part affirmed that Vietnam always values and wishes to strengthen relations with traditional friends, including Hungary - a priority partner in Central Eastern Europe.
He briefed his host on the results of his talks with Prime Minister Viktor Orban and said the two sides discussed major orientations to promote traditional friendly and comprehensive partnership in all fields between Vietnam and Hungary.
Acknowledging the importance of bilateral economic-trade-investment cooperation, Chinh proposed that Novak encourage Hungarian firms to promote business and investment cooperation with Vietnamese partners, especially in areas where Hungary has strengths such as pharmaceuticals, livestock farming, food processing, renewable energy, and water management.
Meanwhile, the Hungarian President proposed that the two sides effectively implement agreements reached during the visit to further foster bilateral cooperation in all fields of politics, economy-trade-investment, education-training, culture, and people-to-people exchanges.
She expected that the two sides would make good preparations for the 10th meeting of the Vietnam - Hungary Joint Committee on Economic Cooperation to be held during her upcoming visit to Vietnam.
On this occasion, Chinh thanked Hungary for supporting Vietnamese expatriates, and expected that the Hungarian government would create more favourable conditions for them to integrate well into their host society, making positive contributions to local development as well as the good friendship between Vietnam and Hungary.
