Vietnam chairs IAI Task Force meeting in Indonesia

VOV.VN - Ambassador Ton Thi Ngoc Huong, head of the Vietnamese Mission to ASEAN, chaired the 75th meeting of the Initiative for ASEAN Integration (IAI) Task Force at the ASEAN Secretariat, Jakarta, Indonesia, on March 5.

This was the first meeting Vietnam has assumed its role as Chair of the IAI Task Force for 2025.

The meeting reviewed the progress of IAI projects and proposed solutions to improve the effectiveness of the IAI Work Plan.

The year 2025 marks an important milestone as the IAI Work Plan IV (2021-2025) enters its final year, and ASEAN is actively preparing to develop the IAI Work Plan V for 2026-2030.

At the meeting, the IAI Task Force agreed to add four projects from China, Japan, and Australia to the IAI project list, bringing the total number of projects under the Work Plan IV to 99, achieving 70.8% of the actions across all five strategic areas.

In the future, the IAI Task Force will find funding partners for project proposals, particularly for pending actions in the Work Plan IV, and to develop the next IAI Work Plan.

The ASEAN Integration Initiative was approved in 2000 with the aim of narrowing the development gap between ASEAN countries, supporting the newer members to fully integrate into the region.
