Vietnam and Singapore forge ahead with strategic partnership at WEF meeting
VOV.VN - Vietnam and Singapore shared a positive outlook for future bilateral relations during a meeting in Tianjin, China, on June 25 between Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong.

At the meeting, Chinh stated that Vietnamese ministries and agencies are actively working to develop the 2025–2030 Action Programme to implement the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Singapore, building on the outcomes of recent high-level visits.
He called for enhanced cooperation in promising areas such as the digital economy, green economy, and the establishment of an international financial centre in Vietnam. He also proposed expanding investment in the Vietnam – Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) system to include smart urban areas and digital commerce, as well as strengthening high-quality human resource training in both the short and long term.
Lawrence, for his part, agreed on the importance of quickly finalising the Action Programme and committed to upgrading VSIP parks to include high-tech zones and smart urban developments. He also expressed interest in cooperating with Vietnam on rice imports to ensure Singapore’s food security.
Both leaders agreed to deepen Vietnam – Singapore cooperation through party-to-party channels, enhance trade and investment partnerships in renewable energy, wind power exports, carbon credit exchange, smart infrastructure, sustainable urban development, and cybersecurity. They also committed to strengthening existing cooperation mechanisms.
They affirmed their determination to elevate bilateral ties to new heights while closely coordinating within ASEAN to build a strong community, maintain peace, stability, and protect common regional interests amid complex international developments.
Chinh conveyed an invitation from Vietnamese State President Luong Cuong to Lawrence to attend the signing ceremony of the United Nations Convention on Countering the Use of Information and Communications Technologies for Criminal Purposes in Hanoi in October 2025.
Prime Ministers Pham Minh Chinh and Lawrence Wong are among four senior leaders invited by Chinese Premier Li Keqiang to attend the 16th Annual Meeting of the New Champions of the World Economic Forum in Tianjin.
