Vietnam and Singapore bolster culture, sport, tourism cooperation
VOV.VN - Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Hai Binh and Ambassador Jaya Ratnam discussed measures to enhance Vietnam – Singapore cooperation in the fields of culture, sports, and tourism, during their meeting in Hanoi on May 12.

Ratnam expressed a strong desire to elevate the already robust Vietnam–Singapore relationship to new heights. He highlighted the importance of cultural and social collaboration as a key pillar in promoting the development and making bilateral ties more comprehensive under the newly upgraded strategic framework.
Underscoring the vital role of people-to-people exchanges, the ambassador cited the recent successful high-level visits, most notably, Vietnamese Party General Secretary To Lam’s official visit to Singapore and Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong’s official visit to Vietnam, as pivotal in reinforcing bilateral ties.
Binh, for his part, stressed that the Ministry would continue to actively promote Singaporean culture and people in Vietnam, and at the same time to bring the image of Vietnam closer to the Singaporean public.
He also called on Singapore to share its expertise in key areas, including indigenisation and internationalisation of culture, as well as its successful experience in developing cultural industries.
Vietnam is particularly interested in learning from Singapore’s experience in digitisation, modern museum and library management, as well as in connecting cultural institutions of both countries, he said.
At the event, the two sides also expressed their desire to boost sporting exchanges and share experience on building modern sports complexes.
In terms of tourism, both sides agreed to enhance air connectivity, update the content of the Government-level tourism cooperation agreement, as well as continuing to expand cruise tourism links through several destinations such as the coastal city of Nha Trang in Khanh Hoa province and Phu Quoc Island in the southern province of Kien Giang.
Binh suggested organising tourism business forums and meetings with tour operators as practical steps to boost cooperation.
Acknowledging the challenges of the digital era, the Deputy Minister proposed that both countries strengthen cooperation in information digitisation, media communications, and the combat against misinformation and fake news through joint seminars and workshops.
He also encouraged the Singaporean side to explore new areas of potential cooperation to further expand the scope of bilateral relations.
