WEF praises Vietnam’s economic relsilience, eyes stronger cooperation
VOV.VN - The leaders of the World Eocnomic Forum (WEF) praised Vietnam’s economic resilience and expected stronger cooperation with the country, during their meeting with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in Tianjin, China, on June 25.

Peter Brabeck-Letmathe, chairman ad interim of the Board of Trustees, thanked Chinh for attending the 16th Annual Meeting of the New Champions of the World Economic Forum in Tianjin. Highly valueing Vietnam’s active, constructive engagement in WEF initiatives over the years, he commended the Vietnamese government’s flexible and effective economic management, as well as its independent, self-reliant, and multilateral foreign policy.
He also shared his personal affection and connection with Vietnam through his visits and investment experiences.
Meanwhile, Borge Brende, WEF President, spoke highly of Vietnam’s strong economic performance, highlighting its GDP growth rate of over 7% in 2024 and its bold target of double-digit growth in coming years which is contrary to the global trend of economic slowdown. He noted that Vietnam remains a highly attractive destination for WEF’s global business community.
The Prime Minister’s dialogues at WEF events over the past three years, he said, have delivered powerful, inspiring messages, helping businesses better understand Vietnam’s policies and increasing interest in investing in the country.
Brende also expressed WEF’s interest in co-organising the next WEF–ASEAN meeting in Vietnam following the successful 2018 edition, to further strengthen the country’s ties with WEF members and partners.
Prime Minister Chinh, for his part, expressed appreciation for WEF’s global standing as a prestigious platform for dialogue and public-private partnership, effectively promoting multilateral cooperation. He welcomed the theme Entrepreneurship for a New Era and priority topics of this year’s forum in Tianjin, which he said reflect key global and regional economic challenges and align closely with Vietnam’s current strategic priorities.
The Prime Minister proposed that the WEF continue supporting the effective operation of the Fourth Industrial Revolution Centre in Ho Chi Minh City, transforming it into a model facility within the WEF network and a key driver of advanced technology adoption across Vietnam’s future economy.
He also suggested upgrading the Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum into an annual “WEF Autumn Economic Forum” and called for stronger connections between Vietnam and leading global corporations to attract high-quality investment.
