Vietnam and Singapore boost cooperation in strategic-level leadership training
VOV.VN - Vietnam and Singapore are actively strengthening cooperation in training and developing strategic-level officials, as part of broader efforts to deepen their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
The view was shared at a meeting in Hanoi on April 1 between Doan Minh Huan, Politburo member and director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, and Ambassador of Singapore to Vietnam Rajpal Singh.
Huan welcomed the growing depth of bilateral ties, particularly following the 2025 elevation of relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. He noted that high-level exchanges, including the 2025 visit to Singapore by Party general Secretary To Lam, have helped clarify cooperation priorities and assign responsibilities to relevant agencies, including the Academy.
Highlighting the Academy’s role in political training and research, Huan affirmed its readiness to contribute to more substantive and effective cooperation between the two countries. He proposed expanding theoretical exchanges between the Communist Party of Vietnam and Singapore’s ruling People's Action Party to share perspectives on future development trends.
Looking ahead, he emphasided the need to innovate training programmes for strategic-level officials, suggesting joint design of courses to prepare Vietnam’s future leadership cadre for the 2026–2030 term.
The Academy also plans to send trainees on field study visits to exemplary enterprises, aiming to bridge theory and practice. To enhance academic diplomacy, Huan invited Singaporean officials and businesses to engage directly in lectures and seminars at the Academy.
Ambassador Singh congratulated Vietnam on the successful organisation of its 14th National Party Congress and Huan’s appointment to the Politburo and as director of the Academy.
Sharing priorities for his tenure, Singh said Singaporean businesses are keen to expand investment in Vietnam, targeting an increase in the number of Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) projects from 22 to 30 this year, marking the 30th anniversary of the initiative.
He noted that the next phase, dubbed “VSIP 2.0,” will focus on digital transformation and sustainable development.
Economic cooperation forms a fundamental pillar of bilateral relations, Singh said, reaffirming Singapore’s commitment to strengthening investment ties with Vietnam.
He also expressed confidence in Vietnam’s development trajectory, including its ambitious double-digit GDP growth targets, and affirmed Singapore’s willingness to support these goals for mutual benefit.
The ambassador agreed with proposals to organise training programmes for provincial-level officials and facilitate field visits to VSIP sites, combining theoretical learning with practical experience. He added that The Embassy would work with leading institutions such as the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy to help implement these initiatives.
