Vietnam and Russia build on success towards better future
VOV.VN - The Russian Embassy in Hanoi on June 7 hosted a reception celebrating 34 years of Russia’s National Day (June 12) and 30 years of the Vietnam - Russia Treaty on Principles of Friendly Relations (June 16).
Addressing the function, Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha congratulated Russia on its recent development achievements and expressed his belief that Russia would succeed in its national development and modernization strategy.
He emphasized that the friendship between Vietnam and the Soviet Union and now Russia has stood the test of time for decades and has been cultivated by generations of leaders and people of the two countries.
The long-standing relationship between Vietnam and Russia has been increasingly strengthened and developed across various fields, from politics, defense, security, trade and investment to science-technology, education-health, and is now enjoying good development prospects, said the Vietnamese Deputy PM.
He noted that celebrations marking 30 years the Vietnam –Russia Treaty on Principles of Friendly Relations this year and 75 years of bilateral diplomatic relations in 2025 give the two countries that chance to honour the achievements of the past, seize the opportunities of the present and develop a roadmap towards a future built on a foundation of shared values, trust and mutual benefit.
In his speech, Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Gennady Stepanovich Bezdetko shared that since Vietnam and Russia established the comprehensive strategic partnership, the traditional friendly relationship between the two countries has been developed strongly in all fields.
He emphasized that in the context of the current world situation, Russia’s Look East policy is increasingly important in the country’s foreign policy.
Russia prioritizes promoting the strategic partnership with ASEAN, in which it always values and wishes to further strengthen the strong friendship with Vietnam, one of Russia’s key partners in Southeast Asia, for peace, stability and prosperity in the region and the world, the Ambassador affirmed.
