Vietnam and China vow to successfully build joint community with shared future

VOV.VN - Vietnam and China will work close together to successfully build a joint community with a share future that carries strategic significance.

The view was shared by Vietnamese General Secretary To Lam and Chinese Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping during their speeches at a Vietnam – China people’s friendship meeting and the launch of the Red Journey youth initiative in Hanoi on April 15.

Addressing nearly 400 delegates, To Lam emphasized the 75-year history of friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and China, calling it the foundation for a strategic future-oriented partnership.

The Communist Party and the State of Vietnam value the promotion of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and the Vietnam–China Community of Shared Future, which carries strategic significance as both countries are stepping into a new era of development, for the happiness of the people of both nations and for the cause of peace and progress for humanity, said To Lam.

He highlighted the importance of youth in preserving and advancing this relationship, especially through projects like the Red Journey, which deepens historical understanding and bilateral ties.

The traditional friendship between Vietnam and China, cultivated by President Ho Chi Minh of Vietnam, Chairman Mao Zedong of China and other senior leaders of both countries, is an invaluable asset of the two Parties, two nations, and their peoples. He called on people, especially young generations, of the two countries, deeply cherish and preserve this close, brotherly relationship for future generations.

Xi, for his part, noted that the building of the China-Vietnam Community of Shared Future that carries strategic significance aligns with the common interests of both countries, benefiting peace, stability, and the prosperous development of the region and the world at large. He reaffirmed China’s commitment to building the joint community, emphasising the role of public support and cultural exchange in this strategic endeavour.

China is ready to continue high-level strategic exchanges with Vietnam and strengthen the solid social foundation for building the joint community of shared future, said the Chinese leader.

Both sides then officially launched the “Red Journey” youth initiative, aiming to educate younger generations about the revolutionary history and mutual support between the two countries. To implement the initiative, the youth from both countries will visit historic revolutionary sites to better understand the shared revolutionary history and solidarity between the two Parties and states.

Also in the morning, both countries launched the Vietnam–China railway cooperation mechanism and established a joint railway committee - a significant step forward in transport cooperation. The launch was witnessed by General Secretary To Lam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and Chinese Party leader and President Xi Jinping.
