Vietnam and Canada concretise peacekeeping cooperation
VOV.VN - Vietnam and Canada have recently inked a cooperation list for the 2025-2026 period to concretize the contents of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on peacekeeping signed between the two countries’ Ministries of Defence in September 2023.

Accordingly, the Canadian Ministry of Defence will continue its support for Vietnam in training United Nations peacekeeping officers through specialized training courses, and exchange programmes allowing Vietnamese officers to teach in Canada. One key topic of discussion is the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) programme, which is highly valued by both parties.
Previously, Vietnam had sent eight officers to Canada for French language training. In 2024 alone, 15 Vietnamese officers participated in specialized UN peacekeeping training courses in Canada as instructors and trainees.
The two Ministries of Defence have agreed to cooperate with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to organize an international conference on Women, Peace, and Security in UN peacekeeping in June 2025 in Vietnam.
