Vietnam and Austria promote leadership experience exchange
VOV.VN - Vietnamese Ambassador to Austria Vu Le Thai Hoang on March 11 presented a letter of appreciation from the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee to Günther Hopfgartner, leader of the Communist Party of Austria (KPÖ), at the party’s headquarters.
During the meeting, Hoang shared the outcomes of the recent 14th Party Congress, emphasising that the event not only reviewed the results of the past five-year term but also marked a historic milestone opening a new stage of development, reflecting Vietnam’s strong aspirations for national advancement.
He noted that the Congress documents outline key development goals toward two major milestones marking 100 years of the Party’s founding in 2030 and 100 years of the establishment of the state. Vietnam aims to maintain a peaceful and stable environment, pursue rapid and sustainable development, improve people’s living standards, and strengthen strategic autonomy and self-reliance, with the goal of becoming a developed, high-income country by 2045.
Regarding foreign affairs, the Congress reaffirmed Vietnam’s consistent policy of independence, self-reliance, diversification and multilateralisation of external relations, along with proactive and comprehensive international integration. The policy also stresses close coordination among Party diplomacy, state diplomacy, and people-to-people exchanges, as well as cooperation in security and defence diplomacy.
Hopfgartner congratulated the Communist Party of Vietnam on the success of the Congress and expressed admiration for the country’s major achievements during four decades of the Đổi Mới (Renewal) process under the Party’s leadership.
He voiced support for Vietnam’s strategic policies and development goals outlined at the Congress and proposed that the two parties further strengthen discussions and exchanges.
In particular, he suggested that the Communist Party of Vietnam share its experience in party building and governance, as well as its successful implementation of the renewal process and the application of Marxism–Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought in Vietnam’s contemporary context.
The two sides also agreed to coordinate activities honouring President Ho Chi Minh, a national liberation hero and a world cultural figure, and to expand youth exchanges between Vietnam and Austria.
