Top legislators receives Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei
VOV.VN - Tran Thanh Man, Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam, held a cordial meeting with Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei in Hanoi no December 1, affirming a shared commitment to strengthen bilateral and parliamentary cooperation.
Chairman Man warmly welcomed the Sultan, noting the importance of the visit in providing fresh momentum for the comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and Brunei, especially in the context of implementing the Action Programme for 2023–2027.
He commended Brunei’s notable socio-economic achievements and expressed confidence in Brunei’s successful realisation of its Wawasan 2035 development vision.

For his part, Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah emphasised the long-standing, close, and friendly relations between the two countries, which have grown particularly strong since the elevation of relations to a comprehensive partnership in 2019. The Sultan highlighted the potential for further cooperation in trade, energy, and people-to-people exchanges.
The two leaders discussed parliamentary collaboration, with the Sultan appreciating regular high-level exchanges between the legislatures, contributing to deepening and practical cooperation. Both sides agreed to enhance bilateral parliamentary cooperation and coordinate closely at regional and international forums, including the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) and the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
In the context of a complex regional and international environment, both leaders emphasised the importance of close coordination within ASEAN to maintain unity and centrality, and reaffirmed their shared commitment to peace, stability, and respect for international law, particularly the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), in the East Sea.
Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah extended an invitation to Chairman Tran Thanh Man to visit Brunei at a convenient time, which the Chairman warmly accepted.
