Top Cuban legislator concludes Vietnam visit
VOV.VN - President of the National Assembly of People’s Power of Cuba Esteban Lazo Hernandez and his entourage left Hanoi on September 28, concluding their five-day visit to Vietnam.
During his stay, President Hernandez paid a courtesy visit to Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, met with State President Vo Van Thuong and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, and attended a commemorative ceremony marking 50 years of Cuban leader Fidel Castro’s trip to the liberated zone in South Vietnam in Quang Tri province.
During high-level meetings, the two sides vowed to strengthen the faithful fraternal solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, State and peoples.
The Vietnamese leaders thanked Cuba for its invaluable assistance and wholehearted support to Vietnam in its development, and affirmed their unswerving policy of supporting the just revolutionary cause of Cuba.
They were all happy that the two sides have organized various activities to mark Cuban leader Fidel Castro’s visit to the liberated zone in South Vietnam 50 years ago, helping to teach their people, especially young people, about the historical tradition of special friendship between Vietnam and Cuba.
On this occasion, President Hernandez presented Cuba’s noble distinctions to seven incumbent and former leaders of the National Assembly in recognition of their contributions to promoting Vietnam – Cuba relations.
President Hernandez also attended several events in Vietnam before leaving for Havana.
